Springfield, IL – Local authorities have released body camera footage detailing the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Sonya Massey by a Sangamon County Sheriff's deputy on July 6th.
Massey, who had called 911 to report a suspected prowler, was tragically killed during a confrontation with officers. The released video depicts a chaotic scene in which the deputy, later identified as Sean Grayson, fatally shot Massey inside her own home.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice. Former Deputy Grayson has since been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and official misconduct.
